James M. Davis, Jr.

Jim is a native of Columbia, South Carolina. His practice areas include civil rights litigation, with a concentration in governmental liability defense and law enforcement defense, as well as all types of personal injury cases.  Jim has argued before the South Carolina Court of Appeals, and the South Carolina Supreme Court, and has been the lead attorney in numerous trials in state and federal court. Jim has also been a certified mediator since 2004, and really enjoys serving as a mediator.

Before law school, Jim attended Wofford College for two years, and then transferred to the University of South Carolina, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management in 1985. Jim worked in banking and financial planning until 1991, when he decided to return to school to obtain his law degree. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1994. While in law school, Jim was President of the Christian Legal Society, a member of the Order of the Wig and Robe, was listed in Who’s Who Among American Law Students, served as an Associate Justice of the Moot Court Bar, and also served as a student prosecutor for the Honor Council. He is currently a member of the Richland County Bar and the South Carolina Bar.

Jim is married with three children and loves spending time with his family and attending his children’s sporting and school events. He also loves attending sporting events at the University of South Carolina, when they do not conflict with his children’s events. He has previously served as a patrol leader for his sons in scouting and has also coached youth baseball and basketball. Jim is an active member of Northeast Presbyterian Church, where he has served as both a deacon and an elder, a Sunday School Teacher for adult and children classes, and a small group leader.
